How We Serve

The basics on the BR:

The Roll: Our burritos are prepared and provided entirely by volunteers, just like you. Our recipe is very straight-forward and easy to produce in order that we be able to offer a consistent experience week after week, regardless of who helps. We have also gotten this response a lot: “I would love to help, but I have no idea how to roll a burrito…” We have your answer! Check out our DIY burrito rollin’ video on our Facebook page for a quick and easy tutorial. I promise, it’s easier than you might think. We also receive donations from time to time, from folks who are unable to ride or roll themselves, and that allows us to subsidize rolling for people who would like to serve with us, but don’t have much wiggle room in their own budget. If you want to help make burritos, but can’t afford to donate the food yourself, just let us know!

Easy to make, easier to give!

The Huntington Ride: Burrito riding in Huntington is more of a spirit thing, as we do not have a bicycle route. Instead, we encourage folks to make burritos, as many as they can, and deliver them to Harmony House for distribution among the clients who visit their day shelter. Harmony House greatly appreciates all of the meal help that we can provide for them!

The Louisville Ride: We ride on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. Our meetup spot is the Kroger on Goss (near Eastern Parkway) at 8:30am. Bring your bike AND your helmet. Our ride is typically around 10-12 miles (shorter in the colder months), depending on how quickly we give out our burritos, and it is a very accessible ride for all fitness levels and most ages. Our pace isn’t too fast and we stop frequently. We’ve had kids as young as 11 or 12 ride with us!

The Purpose: We have many purposes, but here we want to highlight our purpose in the way we serve for our volunteers. Our goal is to make this as easy for you to serve as we can, to remove all of the obstacles that might stand in your way. Don’t know how to make burritos? Done. Can’t afford to contribute? Got it. Don’t have a bike of your own? Boom. We want you to enjoy this project the way we do, and we’ll do everything we can to help you have the opportunity. Any obstacles you may still have, or suggestions for making something better? Here ya go.
